The
Reconciliatory Initiatives for Development Opportunities (RIDO) Inc. is a non
stock- non profit organization operated for more than seven (7) years founded
by people involved in peace building advocacy and as a full time or part time
in development work. Experiences of the founders of the organization showed
that development processes is more effectively achievable if done jointly
with other social change agents under conditions that facilitates stronger
cooperation.
Experienced in clan organizing of the several clans in Lanao Provinces motivates a lot of the founders to continue the endeavor since its shows remarkable strategies in conflict resolution particularly on the family feuds and other form of conflict. RIDO Inc. resolved at least two hundred (200) major and potential conflicts by utilizing the potentials of the council of elders of the clans, local community partners, security sectors and other formal and informal leaders in the community.
The RIDO Inc. focuses different component including capacitating the council of elders specially the traditional leaders to support the reduction of rido or conflict in Lanao areas since rido is very rampant in Lanao provinces and only few institution were concerned on it. On the other hand, the impacts of both human and non human disasters also have an intervention in the previous years to improve the strained relationship of the community. Thus, issues on the causes and effects of rido or clan feuds includes poverty, literacy and unemployment and a like are also concerned by the organization so that causes of violence will be prevented. RIDO Inc. will also to continue to serve as a hub of cooperation and pooling of efforts of the identified clans and vulnerable communities to work for peace and development.
